Si Lupton's1941 GMC COE Military Van |
01 November 2004
From Si:
How about one more (1926
Chevrolet Open Express , 1954 1.5-Ton
Chevy COE - "Nadine") Stovebolt? Even a bit more rare! This is
my (1940-41?) GMC COE military van. Only 1900 some were built prior to and early
in the War. Four wheel drive, dual rears, Wayne body. Just deliverd from "dry
as a bone" Colorado!
It has a brass plate on the hood door reading: "Ordinance Department, Military Spare Parts." The trucks were used for mobil repair shops, parts trucks and machine shops. It even has a smoke stack in the roof for a heater stove or forge!
Hope you can post it, too and that the Stovebolters like it!
